Old vs New speakers

I just bought a new house and am setting up a home theater system and would like some input/opinions on using my existing speakers or new ones.

I will be using a Sony STR-DE697 receiver with this set up.

My existing speakers are a bit on the older side, but they all still sound great to me. The first pair is Technics model# SB-2665. They are big, floor standing speakers. The second pair is Yamaha model# NS-A635A and they are bookshelf speakers.

I went out and bought a boxed 5.1 surround sound speaker set. It is Yamaha model# NS-SP1600.

Here's my dilema. Should I return the new speaker set and invest in a good center channel speaker and a good subwoofer and use those with my existing speakers or would I be better off with the boxed set I bought?

One word of note. I have not listened to the boxed set yet, but if anyone has this type of set, I would like to hear your opinions on it.
