I am trying to purchase my first home theater system. I have sort of narrowed to the Yamaha yht-18, the Kenwood htb-504, or the JVC dstp-350. Can anyone tell me which would be the best of these systems.

I don't know about the Yamaha and Kenwood, but the JVC stuff stinks. We bought one from Costco a while back and returned it the next day. The system is very quiet and only reaches an acceptable movie listening volume when you turn the dial all the way to the top, and then it is accompanied by the wonderful hiss of extremely high volume on an amp (even though in this case "high volume" is not high at all). So in other words, stear clear of the JVC system.
