How do I connect my cable box to my reciever without s video

My reciever has s-video as well as my telvision, but my reciever doesn't have s-video. My goal is to have suroundsound while I watch cable. Please help

You can hook just the audio into your receiver and the S-video directly to your television. The only downside is you can't easily record the programs into your VCR via the receiver.

You should consider upgrading :-) to a receiver that has everything.

s-video is exactly what it means...video. It does not carry any audio signals. You connect it directly to the s-video input of your TV. If you want surround sound you have to connect the audio cable from your cable box' audio outputs(if there are any). Not all broadcasts or cable feeds are in surround sound.
