Will Media Center PCs replace the desktop any time soon?

There's some good Media Center PCs emerging such as the Elonex Artisan LX, but one thing will prevent me from buying... Until these systems start catering for the high end gamer then i (and i'm sure many other gamers feel the same) won't be tempted away from my desktop. This is especially true for those of us in the UK since most of the features of a Media Center PC are available through a Sky+ box, (ie. Pausing live TV etc) and the Two Technologies aren't compatible with each other, The thought of buying such a system to pause and rewind the crap on BBC1 and ITV doesn't exactly fill me with excitement.

Any thoughts?

I like watching and recording HDTV programs with my MCE 2005 HTPC. I love being able to watch a DVD movie, and at the same time record Alias or 24 in HD w/Dolby Digital! I love my HTPC. Oh, you can still play games because this is Windows XP Professional.
