Brit sucker
Unregistered guest
well, looks like it's hit the UK. i just got suckered for £300 sterling in Bristol. story very similar: white van, two guys (one said he was californian, the other was from london). said they worked for Pro-Sound. very convincing! they had the magazine article aswell. now i do my research to find THIS. ah well, greed eh??!!

yeah you know i got this job doing this and i sold a couple of these systems before. and to tell you the truth i heard them and even for 500 dollars i think it is a good deal. they work and make your movies sound better, and they look great. that is all that really counts. you cant get that good looking of a speaker in the store for less than 500. so if you get them for less you are getting a great deal.that is how i looked at it. We made good money and some of you people that are not so bitter turned out to be pretty ok with it too. even friends.

Hey i used to work for these guys, until i realized what they where doing. The guys who run the scam are named Monte and Matt. There cell phone's are Matt-603-557-8035 Monte-781-354-7006
the office #781-935-8633. I even have Monte's home address,99 Central St. Wooburn Mass 01801.
The best way to get these guys is to call them and tell them you bought some speakers or systems
and you want more then have them meet you some were, tell them you paid anywhere from 350 to 400 for the goods. There greed will get to them and they will show up! They are also now selling speakers under the name Theater Research!

Not sure if its all the Same people. the guy that I saw in Southbury, CT on June 7th showed me a D.L. from CT and his name was Glen. In a green Envoy though. I think this is a bigger scam then any one person can track down...

I bought a TI 5100 system last Thursday in East Meadow, Long Island, and hooked it up and it doesn't sound bad! I paid $400, but now that I know it is not"HIGH END" equipment as advertised, I only wish I would have bargained lower! Does anyone know if this is really a 900 watt system? There are no specs on the back like legit systems, and yeah, how do you get rid of that buzzing? It's not that bad, and I only heard it when I was using the VCR. . .

I seriously think I was hypnotised as I parted with my cash (£280). This was a very professional outfit. I now have a TI 6000 S. I was just on my way to university when someone in a white van with an American accent called me over. I thought I'd get asked for directions, but the guy -who had long grey hair with a goatee- and his northern English counterpart, asked me to look in the back. They showed me the bargain equipment "totally legit" "just got a few spare on the way back to the depot" as seen for $2999 in a glossy magazine. Then they marched me to a cash machine. Next thing I knew, I was standing on the pavement with a box of what apparently is junk. I've never been this skint and thought this would temporarily solve my dire money problems if I could sell it to a friend -who I know was looking for just this kind of thing- for a few quid more. A gamble that did not pay off. Laugh if you will, but I feel sick.

I was heading to work today and these two guys in a dark purple van drove towards me asking if i wanted to by some speakers. It sounded kinda fishy but I got caught. They said they worked for a company that sells these speakers out of a warehouse and that their boss had given them too many speakers. They said the speaker were close to $2500 each but they would do both for $600. I was kinda of weary and they said they would take anyting. I told them $400 and he said "what the f*ck I'll do it". I was even stupider when i actually walked to an ATM with him. I knew I got completely scammed but didn't want to face the reality of it until I actually got home and tried them. I mean they work and everything but they aren't that loud. I'm a complete f*cking idiot for falling for such a scam. Does anyone know where they're based out of so I can get my f*cking money back.

ya folks know, i just bought one too $325, my only gripe is be honest( im more apt to help u if u tell me ur trying to get ur hustle on, than lying to me). they arent stolen, but if they give u an invoice u CAN warranty them, they arent bad, not the best, but killing a guy thats trying to make a buck, thats clueless himself? come on we have no one to blame. funny thing is, a constant theme thru all these post is they got ripped off.. did the system actually sound bad? (despite teh fixable buzzing) did it enhance your tv experience? then what is your TRUE complaint? that you were caught with ur pants down........ people.u werent screwed, u just werent educated about the product.live and learn! :-) hey the guy that suggested the power pack to stop the buzzing. can u explain further? tommydee66@msn.com

ATTENTION all in, nearby or around HOUSTON, TX.

I too got scammed for some Ti tower model for 500 some odd dollars. I managed to take down a cell number from one of the fu*ks. If anyone nearby me wants to get together, locate these guys, and take some kind of action, prefebly legally/peacefully or if that is not possible take our own action, please contact me and any one else you know who has been scammed.

Together, we might be able to get ourselves out of this problem (that, granted, we sort of got ourselves into) and get our money back.

If you read the rest of this post, you'll know that some others were succesful in tracking down these so-called sales men and getting their money back. Theres even some former salesman, who's given the number and location of one operation somewhere, I think in England .

As stated, I have the name and number of one of these asswipes and would GLADLY have some kind of meeting with anyone else who has been cheated, in or around the Houston area. We need to take care of this ASAP before any more of our neighbors get screwed. (I was cheated in Pearland, just outside Houston)

We could get this on our local News station like channel 39 news or channel 26 news, and have the whole city alerted. That way they'll be caught for sure.

I'd advise others who have been scammed in other parts of the U.S. and Canada to rally together, devise a plan, and setup some kind of net to get these f*ggots.

I say we get these dipsh*ts back.

If your around Houston, contact me via e-mail and we can meet someplace.
Don't take too long to reply. They might get away with it if we sit around for weeks just sulking

I got taken for 100 bucks right in Niantic Ct at a shell gas station. they were two guys in a dark blue chevy suburban. they said they were on their way to foxwoods casino to install some systems in the high roller suites. They said they had extras and needed to get rid of them or they would be returned to the wear house. I had 400 on me and they knew it. i told them i could only give them 100 they asked to throw in 20 extra for a case of beer. I asked to get a phone number so i could call them later and bring them the beer they said no. damn i wish i got that number i woulda shoved this system right up their a$$. i hope i see them again but thats alright i sold it for 780 bucks so i definetely learned a lesson and got paid for it too. hope its the same for most of you. this just happend a week ago. and they asked if i knew where i could get drugs for them. watch out they could be dangerous if theyr'e all f*cked up. f*ggots

haha just though I'd let you know these guys are operating in ENGLAND now, I was approach by a dude in coventry. Was an american guy too - long greying hair in a pony tail, mid thirties probably. He almost scammed by friend until I stepped in. Come on... people don't "accidentally" add extra speakers to a delivery run. He even tried to claim it was because the warehouse staff had just come home from Glasonbury and were still high, lol. He drove an unmarked van. The gear was a brand I'd never heard of. When does a delivery driver carry around flyers for the gear he's "delivering", or a copy of trade-it magazine that just so happens to be advertising the exact same product. I asked him who he worked for and he said "pro sound" - obviously a made up name. You guys who bought them, did you actually LOOK at the speakers first? They're cheap as hell - the baffles were held on my DIY rivets, and the cabs made from steel sheets - the same stuff they make computer cases from. Just think yourself lucky they didn't ask for more money...

hey, got a second?
Unregistered guest
well, well! I fell for it too! What is actually funny here is the fact that I bet no one has ever heard of this brand of speakers, right? But you were still willing to part with your hard earned money. You didnt get ripped off. You were willing to pay that amount. Did any of them hold a gun to your head? NO! They are salesmen, and they know their targets. I managed to talk them down to $120 for the TI1250 floor speakers. They sound really good on my SONY recvr. and look good w/my mod decor. Next time say NO and do your homework is the lesson here wich some people paid more for!!!

Come to think of it, this exact scam has been around for a good 20 years or so. I can remember now when I was about 16(22 years ago) I had the chance to buy some speakers from 2 guys in a van that pulled over on the side of a street I was walking down and asked if I wanted to buy some speakers they had left over from a job. back then their starting price I think was about $200. Probably the same outfit out of Woburn Ma. BUYER BEWARE ~ we have all heard that before.

In NYC, They were driving a dark blue GMC van. Two white guys with bose shirts on , told same story and saw the ad. At least the system works... Still i would beat them down and take take their money just to feel better, they both had a lot of cash on them

July 5, What the Fu&* THese guys caught me in front of Bjs and I thought I got a good deal for $220. 20 for the beer. showed me the magazene and it was 2 guys. 10 minutes llater I went to bestbuy and 2 other guys tried the same. And i played along with them to see how low I could get it for. I worked him down 2 $150, and another $150 for the guy parked next to them. them I blew his cover when I told him to use a different story. also the magazene always opens up to the same page. I got what I deserved. and will sell it on ebay or try and find some other sucker.. this was in salem NH. peace

"YOU NEED TO STOP LYING TO PEOPLE"

Look, I gave an HONEST review of the speakers. I do NOT sell them, I do NOT work for them. I am telling you what I hear. What do you have? I have the TI-5100 and my BASS is GREAT. I just rented the DVD for TORQUE this weekend it it was GREAT. Those speaker sounded like they were in my den. I stand BY my review

Hey I just bought a ti-6000s from some guys in Houston Texas. Told me they do home installations and that they got one two many by mistake. Had to get rid of the extra unit before their boss found out. Bought it for $300 so I hope I did not get ripped off. Same as all the other stories...two guys in a blue chevy truck. Took me to a ATM...well I guess I will hook them up and see if it works...if they dont work at least I have a good story worth $300

I'm not sure what the big problem is here. I got the TI 6000s in Braintre, MA for $200 and it sounds great to me. It doesn't have the name sony or Bose on it but once you get past that you'll realize you got a home theatre system for only 200 bucks. It a lot like buying a KIA and realizing that it doesn't have the name Toyota on it but it has just as much value since you got it for so much less. Just relax people and realize that it didn't cost much and you got something that enhances your tv.

It was two guys in a older model black SUV (Blazer I think) They had this big story about the warehouse gave them too many and they had to unload it before they met up with thier boss. They had the magazine and all. My husband wrote a check and made it out to a guy named Dana. The other guy was Ryan and he gave us a cell phone number that is now disconnected! Imagine that!!
IF ANYONE KNOWS ANY MORE INFORMATION ON THESE TWO GUYS IN MINNESOTA... PLEASE EMAIL ME. A LIC PLATE WOULD BE NICE OR EVEN A ADDRESS. THANK YOU!

Hey guys!
Well im from the UK and it seems like were being hit for the same scam as well. Same system THEATER INNOVATIONS TI 1250's, and same story about the order being wrong. Im work in deliveries and know proceedures when you get an order wrong- u dont try and sell them on your own, the company keeps them and gets the cash back! Knew it was dodgy, but thought they were nicked more than anything else! Paid £100 for them (about $200) but havent hooked them up yet. It was only one fella, an Aussie. They were operating in St. Albans, Hertfordshire. Not really bothered as long as they work, knew they werent £2000 speakers, but hopefully they'll be loud!

Salut,

I just bought one of these sets on ebay before I read these posts. I have not connected it yet but I only paid $52 and $25 shipping for it so hopefully it will work enough to get that much out of it. I could probably sell it on ebay and get more than my money back but if it is crap I don't want to stick someone else with it.

I hope the guys who sold me the stuff are looking this up cuz i just want to let you know I worked very very hard for the money that I spent, and I don't need such a system in my house. I don't have the money for it. I bought it in order to sell and now I'm really messed up.

For all those who think its not stealing and cheating.
First of all of course the story they make up is cheating and second of all the system is not worth that money that is suggested retail.
One of the 7 nohida laws that g-d gave to all nations is do not steal.

This scam or "business" has been going on for a long time. I answered a "help wanted" ad in my local newspaper about 10 years ago for this.

Same thing: warehouse full of speakers, drive around in a van all day looking for suckers, lie to them, etc.

I "trained" for a day and never went back.

I'm not saying the speakers are worthless -- they may well be worth $200 or so, so don't feel too bad -- but all the sales people I met seemed scummy and unethical and shouldn't be rewarded in my opinion.

We didn't use the "beer" line though. That's pretty hilarious!

Just in case anyone from England is reading this, the f***ers are also operating over here. Havn't tried to set the system up yet, but i'm not holding out too much hope. Anyone in the Guildford area - be sure to look out for a tall white guy with an American accent, who says he's from California, with long brown hair. And give him a kicking from me.

If i've learned anything from this - it's not to buy stuff from the back of a van. Can't believe the c###s##### even had a fake magazine with fake prices. And the worse thing of all - no one to blame but myself!! arrrrrrrrrrrrrrrh!

I was sitting in the bank parking lot today and a guy rolls up in a white van. Same story as everyone before...going to a convention and had extra systems...needed to get rid of them or his boss was going to send them back. It seemed kinda shady, but after talking the guy down to $200 bucks, it didn't seem like such a bad deal. He tried to get me to pay him $800 to start with but was easily talked down. One can't complain because the bottom line is that I bought it out of the back of a van. I got it all hooked up and it doesn't sound half bad. It should serve me well in my dorm next year. I was going to spend about 200 bucks on a new system anyway so I guess it all worked out in the end. For sure a lesson learned...Kent, WA.

All of you people need to stop b!tchin about being ripped off you just bought something out of the back of a damn van. But if it makes you feel better I just paid $2500 for 5 of the 6100 systems, 3 of the 5100 systems, 2 of the 6000 systems and 1 pair of the towers. But this part is realy gonna piss you off becouse I then flipped everything, made my $2500 back put $3500 in my pocket and kept the towers for myself. Well the speakeres work at least...paid $300...not worth it of course. Have them hooked up to my home PC...had the cash to blow so I figured what the hell...give it a shot but I had a hunch it was a scam...If I ever see the two guys who sold me them I will give them a beer up their ar$e here in Houston....on ebay they sell for less than $100. I do have a few problems ocasionaly when I use the volume control...sometimes it messes up and does some totally other function but only once and a while...other than that they work.

They are about the same as one of those speaker packages for a PC>...you can buy new at best buy for about $100 and at least have a warranty...

well I am now officialy crowned a sucker to

Look. If you bought something "sound unheard" from the back of a van, you really don't have a right to complain. Did they tell you where to take the speakers if there was a warranty problem?

If you paid $200, you probably got your money's worth.

I work at a well known Hi-Fi shop in England and have seen these "speakers" when a customer brought them in to audition an amp, and believe me they are worth about £30. The ones he had were made of chipboard to give them wieght but the drivers were the worst part of the construction.
My advise? If something seems too good to be true it usually is!
If you want a pair of speakers go to a dealer, listen to them and get the right pair for you cutting corners only ends in empty pockets.

Just hope they work. I will not sell these regardless. They will go in the garbage after me.

Welcome to those who have just joined us.

People are selling them on eBay. They are taking a bath on them but they have some bids.

Invite some people over, play them and then tell them you are selling them on eBay. Someone will probably jump on them for $200.

Someone would be getting some ghetto-lookin speakers for a wedding present if it were me.

Sup Guys, I live in Montreal and some guy in a white van asked me if I wanted some "killer" speakers. I was at the gas statin and told him to f*** off. couple of months later (august 18th 2004) one of my friends called me to say he just made a great deal over Theater innovations speakers. He payed 600$ Can (about 350$ US)for them. I went over the internet to find out about it....and here I am. 1 forum. Hundreds of fooled.... I'm very glad they didn't get me but they got my friend. They all use the same technique and it's working nicely. For sure It's not worth it cuz otherwise THEY WOULD NOT SELL THEM TO YOU. If you live around Montreal and have any information plz post about it cuz me and my friends would love to chat with those guys.

1 thing 4 sure... a lot of ppl learned a lesson the day they made a deal with "Theater Innovations"

After all, who cares about how those speakers sound....beeing crook is always a pain in the a**.

Something's wrong in this world.... Individualism and Capitalism are tearing the world apart...

Just for the record:

** REPUTABLE OUTLETS DO NOT SELL OUT OF VANS IN A PARKING LOT! **

The folks buying these knew someone was getting ripped off, they just didn't realize it was themselves.

It is not 'individualism and Capitalism' that are to blame; it is pure, outright GREED. Both on the part of the crooks selling the speakers and also on those buying something any person with common sense knows is not 'kosher'.

Very well put.

Every day that goes past... the pain gets less. Hopefully in a couple of years I will be able to look back and laugh.

Now they are in Houston,Texas. Selling the whole system in the box. They told me they were installing them in a dealership for the upper management. They tried to sell it to me for 700 bucks, talked them down to 300. Thought I was doing good. Oh well, That is the first time I've been had like that, I grew up in the city, I should have seen that scam coming. You live and you learn.

why the hell is the police just sittin on there ar*e???????? its an illegal activity selling by lying it should have been stoped but i see this IS AN ACTIVE FORUM and its still going and every day thes a new post! the police we pay arnt doing there job. if thes criminals can get away with this i see no hope in the world.

You all better be careful what you wish for. The reason I see less hope for the world is not these jackals preying on the greed of others, it is the lack of remorse on the part of those who got stung when they were trying to participate in a crime. (Can you say 'Receiving Stolen Goods'?)

The common thread in the spiel these guys make is they came into possession of some 'surplus' merchandise, either due to an error or by outright theft and they want to dump them. In either story, they are selling stuff that does not belong to them.

Stop whining about the money you lost and just be glad the cops were NOT there to arrest you too.

It seems P.T. Barnum is alive and well!

i disagree with you. they are not stolen goods they are an american company that the police have investigated but done nothing about. It isnt illegal to buy surplace goods, and my only remorse is that i brought them.

According to the some of the above stories, at least a few of the pitches were that they had been taken off a truck, i.e. STOLEN. As far as being 'surplus', most suppliers of high priced wares don't consider an accidentally double shipped item to be yours, but will want it back or else be paid for it. In any case, unless these 'gentlemen' are the owners of the business to which they were shipped, the 'surplus' items are not theirs to sell; therefore they would be STEALING it from their employer. (According to the stories above.)

Its not a scam if it works, and is a good deal, and sounds good. Paid 200, and if hooked up correctly, sounds good.

If you buy stuff from the back of a truck.. You never know what your gonna get, this time was a good thing.

My father in law just bought 2 TI 5100 and 2 pairs of TI-1650's for $2,250.00. We are in Fresno Ca. He got jacked. They showed him the Livesound magazine. What a scam. Good thing I did not buy one from father in law

yea i bought a pair of ti-1250 speakers and 2 ti-6000 systems for $1000. i sold one of the surround sound systems for $700 on ebay, so i figure i spent $300 on the other surround sound and the towers. i personally think it was worth the $300 for what i have. the towers do sound surprisingly good, i have had them for a little over a year now, the subs seem cheap and one broke and i had to solder the wire back on, but they do sound good. the suround sound sounds OK. i think i am going to sell it and get another surround sound but keep the speakers.

My buddy just bought the TI5100 on august 26. He,s real pissed off about spending $400 on pure garbage. I saw those speakers and heard them. First off they look like they,re worth 50 bucks and they sound like sh-t.All of you who think they sound good or even decent need to excavate the sh-t from your ears because it's running pretty deep. Funny thing though is when he bought theatre innovations Ti5100 my other buddy used one of the chumps kitchen knives to open the box and left it out. My chump er pal asked who left out the knife, and said it cuts good right. Yeah well what did you pay for that knife because it was as dull as the sound on the fu-king speakers he got robbed for. Ha Ha.

Please everyone hold out your left hand so the back of it faces you. Clench all your fingers into a fist except your pointer finger, you are going to have to point that one straight up. Then take your thumb and aim it towards your right. You should have just made a big L with your hand. Each time one of you gets scammed you earn another letter and i'll show you how to make it with your hand. When you have gotten scammed a total of 5 times you earn the official title of Loser. Good luck and hope you all earn that title of loser.

Hey fellow suckers big fish here... Just wanted to let you all know that I did some research on this theater innovation crap and found out some interesting stuff. first off(if you didn't already know) a company called "theater innovations" doesn't even exist it's just a back yard type opperation funded by a few greedy crooks who are pretty well off financially already. What they do is have a bunch of crap, no-name electronics assembled by a small, no-name company. The outside of the speakers(systems, etc.)look pretty nice and expensive but the guts are a mess and the speakers aren't even crossed over and everything is just thrown together in the home theater systems (open them up you'll see). Then they are packaged in realy nice boxes with things on them like "dolby surround" and "digital surround" etc. and high prices like $2,999.99 printed on the boxes. How they are sold is even better. You all heard the bull$hit stories they tell ya, but what they do is they all meet up at the warehouse early in the morning and load up there vans with the systems, they are told to tell people that there was an over order and are given the bogus mag and ads. They all compete among friends who could sell the most systems and who ever does through out the day gets a bonus. It is like a big game, but at our expense. They are not selling stolen goods so the f_cked up part is the only thing illigal about it is that they are not charging tax. So if they are caught the only thing that will happen is the government will want there piece of the pie. Only in the good old U.S of A.

First of all "BigFishYGN" what ever you just tried to say made no f_cking sense what so ever. I kind of had to explain what is going on like I was talking to a child or just a dumb punk a$$ like you, considering the type of people(like yourself)who read this forum.

They are in Missouri City, Texas. They scammed us for 370 bucks. They were in a grey Izuzu. If anyone wants to screw them up and get their money back just email us at golfer5869@hotmail.com or call us at 713-249-8116. If we find these biatches we will jack them up and call the police.

P.S. they offered to buy us a BBQ sandich

Damn you all think you got ripped off bad...I paid 1200 (most of what i had) for two "Theater Innovations" systems thinking i can get my money back on ebay. I feel like the biggest retard in the world and i probably am for this, but i do have one question. What is to stop me from reporting them to the police and sueing them for my money back?

Anonymous

To report a crime, you must be able to PROVE one occured. Do you have ANYTHING in writing that would prove WHO it was and that they mis-represented the items to the point of FRAUD? My guess is they don't give you anything, let alone a valid, meaningful receipt. (BTW: It is not illegal to sell an OVER-PRICED item.)

I would think the best the police could do is to try and setup a sting, but I'm sure these folks don't hang around one place that long.

For all you vigilantes out there, if you did 'JACK THEM UP' it is more likely it would be YOU going to jail (or even the morgue), not them. . . Is your pride worth that?

Yeah i just read various other posts proving their business is overall legit anyway (which pisses the f*ck out of me) but either way I'm on my way up to Woburn Mass from Old Saybrook CT (on the freakin coast, 2 hr drive but it's for 1200 bucks back). If anyone wants to come, i'll meet you there!

Yup, I got screwed for $400. Not as bad as you Payne, sorry bout that. The worst thing about it was that I tried calling a buddy in the middle of the deal who knows EVERYTHING about brands of electronics and what not, but of course he didn't answer his phone and I freakin went for it. I only had about 500 bucks to my name, too, and i'm in college trying to pay my own way through (thought i could make money off it). Should've known that a respectable brand wouldn't put a big red price right on the box. I feel like a moron for getting tricked, but then I remember that I'm a good person who makes honest money and this is what these mo fo's do for a living. If i ever see them again I'll butcher their fat bodies and then play in the blood.
