Hey guys, My dvd player recommends that besides having either the coax or optical hooked up to my reciever for sound, and that I should also hook up the plain ole' rca's as well but gives no reason? any idea why, and do I really need to do this? Thanks, Josh

No, you don't need to do this. Even if the dvd is analog stereo, the player will use the optical line to send the signal to the receiver.

on the topic of cables would a thicker coax cable from my subwoofer to my reciever help out, it came with a dinky thin little thing, wondering if it would make a difference to upgrade a little bit, granted I don't want to spend 30 dollars on a monster cable as I'm not that "audiophile" crazy..but I do like a nice system for the funds available.

Thanks Berny... Can anyone give me a recommendation on a subwoofer in the 200 dollar range? I live in a 12x12 dorm room, so spending more than that is overkill.. I was looking at these at a quick glance...
