Car Amp to Home Subs

I'm currently restoring two old (at least ten years old) home speaker boxes (they stand upright rectangularily with two 3" tweeters). I've removed all the speakers and I am planning on buying two new 12" subs and 4 new tweeters. I happen to have an old 300 watt car amp lying around and was wondering if I should simply buy a new home amp, or would it be cheaper to use the car amp for power?
If it would be cheaper to use the car amp, exactly how do I connect it to the home electricity, and also, should I buy car subs or home subs?

my oppinion would be get a new home amp.

the power supply you need to drive a car amp in the
house can get pretty expensive.

in a car the amp uses your electrical system to power it
and some times you need a better charging system
and larger battery to get that done.

just my 2 cents you can do it but i think you'd
be better off with a qualty home amp.
