NAD Authorized dealer

I've made the decision to purchase the NAD T743 receiver. The NAD web site has a very large disclaimer about making sure not to purchase from an unauthorized dealer.

I've searched far and wide on the internet and virtually every US dealer sells the T743 for $699. I did however find an unauthorized dealer (Plaza Audio in New Jersey)
that sells it for $549 - a pretty big savings. http://www.plazaaudio.com/nadt7avre3.html

They claim that they will honor NAD's standard 2-yr. warranty.
Price is an issue for me, as I would much rather put the $150 difference towards speakers. I've had an NAD stereo receiver for 15 years without ever having a problem.

My questions are these:
1. Should I buy from an unauthorized dealer or should I stop being so cheap and support my local dealer?
2. Anyone ever done business with Plaza Audio?
3. Even if they were to honor the warranty, do I want an unauthorized dealer repairing the piece should something go wrong?
4. Can you recommend any other retailers for this receiver?

Thanks for the input.

most authorized dealers will probably offer the 743 to you for ~$600. They won't advertise that price online, but you should be able get that price if you talk to someone. I would definitely not deal with an unauthorized dealer with NAD though. I had way too many problems with mine and ended up with an Arcam Avr 200 instead. Give saturday audio a call for a price (they are authorized) or you could try sound city in NJ.

i second the yawa recommendation. their price on the 773 was the best i found, they are an authorized dealer, and they are very willing to help w/technical questions (and knowledgable - which in my experience is not at all a given at the bricks and mortar dealers)

Be sure to test the NAD t743 before buying it. Test it with your headphones on a constant hissing sound!
