I have erratic operation of the volume control on my receiver. The volume "jumps" from very low to very loud. It does this BOTH when I rotate the volume knob, and also when I use the remote control. I did clean the contacts inside the volume sensor, and this did help reduce the problem a little. Does anyone know of any other possible causes of this problem? Thanks!

A VolControl can be either optical OR electro/mechanical........

If it is optical, a spritz of something like deoxit may make things worse.

If it is electro/mechanical, some contact cleaner should have fixed it.
When doing such a spritz, have power OFF and work the VC up/down several times to allow the self cleaning action to do so.

If this doens't fix it.....I'm afraid you need to seek 'professional help' in the form of a tech. Not cheap, but depending on the value of the piece, worth it.

.

Ditto. Don't get into your amp's innards unless you know exactly what you are doing and why. Leave this work to a tech, it's worth the few bucks it will cost.
