I was thinking about spending around $1000.00 for a new receiver because mine is on the brink of blowing up.

I learned alot after my few hours of researching. I have the Bose AM-10's?? The 5.1 Bose system. From the reading no one likes them, but I have had them for about 6years so they got their use.

I have toned down the price to about $300 for a Sony STR-DE995, and it comes with a nifty learning LCD remote !!!

So is it correct that I should just stick with lower end receivers, and lower end speakers? I don't plan on buying anything but maybe a center channel and possibly some new front channels to make a 7.1 system.

- The sales man at best buy 6years ago swore that these were the best speakers they had in their store. I can only imagine that Bose was offering a free cruise or some bonus at the time.

well mathew i would say your right to a certain degree.

all the pieces in your system need to be of simular
quality to achieve the end result.

but i wouldn't buy a not so good reciever because
my speakers are.

this is just me hear but i would buy something descent
then if you decide to get better components later
you won't have to replace the reciever again.

a few of the better lower priced recievers come from
h/k,marantz.pionere elite and some nad products
can be had at good prices not to mention some others.

good luck.
