How to set up PreAmp

No clue how to use a pre-amp. Thanks for your patience. You guys all seem to have been born knowing this, and I can't find this very basic info in any post. I have an NAD 7100 stereo receiver that I'd like to use for my phono as a pre-amp to my NAD 753 AV Receiver. (I think that's how you say it.) The 753 has no phono capability. I'm assuming I can hook the phono to the 7100, and the 7100 to the 753. I have a decent set of patch cords. What do I hook to what?

Obviously you take your table into the phono input on your 7100. Select phono to send the signal to the tape ouputs. Take your signal from the tape out on the 7100 and into the tape in (or AUX) on the 753. Select the input you have connected the input into on the 753 and you should have sound that is not affected by the pre amp section of the 7100.
