PMC FB1+ speakers?

Just curious if anyone has had any experience with the PMC FB1+ speakers? I currently have Anthony Gallo 3.1's but have found the base to be a bit thin and my dealer suggested the FB1+'s would be a good choice to fix that. I really love the Gallo's and don't get much time with the PMC's to demo. They need a really long break in period so I'm hesitant to make the switch. Any thoughts would be appreciated??? Rest of the gear is a Bryston BCD-1 cd player and an Esoteric AI-10 integrated amp.

And Stryvn, pigman and Bryan ...

Darren, are you using the SA subamp?
At low volume, the subamp makes a big difference.
BUT, these are 86db speakers, and not the greatest until a dozen watts are applied.
The PMC speakers will deliver more (and great) BASS at lower volumes.

Darren, I am in the Peg now for a day or two, if you want to PM me.

Thanks for the reply Nuck. I am not using the SA amp. I talked to my dealer and he feels the SA amp will not add to more bass slam but simply it just drives the second voice coil and no added affect to the woofer. It's hard to compare the speakers as the Gallo's are broken in and the PMC's are not.

1 sa is good for bass,2 in mono make fantastic bass.
on gon right now there is a guy with 2 for sale at $500/amp so for a grand you would get a major improvement.

I should have mentioned that I listen mostly to rock/metal music and I'm now thinking the PMC's would be better suited to that kind of music.

these 2 SA's here make pretty good bass...

The PMC's will slam a little more dramatically for metal at reasonable volumes.

There was a pair of FB1+(es) listed on CAM this week that I sooooo nearly bit on. A hell of a lot of speaker for $1,500. They sold within about a day. I'm kind of kicking myself, but I didn't want to make a rush decision and so I let them pass.

Darren, you won't know what the active XO SA amps do unless you try.
They can be resold, and at 500, it's a good deal.
I paid 500US + 150CDN to get it.

Not a lot of them to be had in the GWN, gotta look sharp.
Selling the 3.1's, pristine will net like 1700 CDN?

I bought a suite of 3.1/amp for 2300 a few months ago.
Also bought a suite 6 months ago, in Winnipeg, 3.0 plus SA for 2kCDN.

Try the amp(s) if you can.
I trust your dealer too, but I trust your ears better.

Hey Nuck. I decided to trade-in my Gallo's for the PMC FB1+'s. After some serious listening and comparing the 2, I just couldn't ignore the synergy of PMC's with the rest of my gear. The PMC's just seemed better suited for my musical tastes and gave me more than the Gallo's. They won't be in my system long though as I ordered a pair of FB1i's which are supposed to be a big improvement over the FB1+'s.

Good going Darren!
Are the + on loan till the i's show up, or do you have to resell them?

Nuck, They are on loan until the i's show up. It was a very tough tough decision as the Gallo's are great speakers in their own right.
