Hello everybody...

Does anybody know if a pair of Dynaco MkIII monos will work well the Sequels? I'm trying to decide between tubes and a Sunfire.

Thanks in advance.

.

The specifications from ML; http://www.martinlogan.com/pdf/manuals/manual_sequel_ii.pdf, quote a 2 Ohm minimum impedance. Any vintage Dyna tube amp will have an output impedance that reacts strongly with that sort of impedance swing. The specifications don't indicate where that impedance is situated in the total frequency response but it would be a fairly safe bet in any case to say the Dyna would exhibit eratic and uneven frequency response driving that speaker system. I would look for better tubes (more modern with a lower nominal output impedance) or resign myself to the fact the speaker will box in my decisions regarding which amplifier to buy.

Any sand amp will do better than a tube job for these speakers.
This is why SS amps came around, or t'other way around.
