4 In Ceiling Speakers...help needed!

Hi everyone, I signed up for this site because I have a problem and I hope that someone could help me. I just bought a house and it has 4 in ceiling speakers: 2 in the family room, 1 in the kitchen, and one in the dining room. I'd like to hook these speakers up to something so I can just play music in all of the rooms, but I don't know what the best way to go about doing this is. I've heard that using a stereo system and just plugging 2 wires into each output jack could blow the speakers, and I don't need a 5.1 system, since I only have 4 speakers. What do you all recommend I do?
Also, in a related question...does anyone know a way I can stream audio from my computer (located on another floor) to my system that I was just talking about once I get that set up? I have a wireless network. Thanks in advance for any help you can give me!

Be kinda difficult to do 5.1 with just 4 speakers.
'specially since they are all in different rooms.
As you will hear from others here, devil is in the details.
Where do the speaker wires terminate?
Do you have any information from the previous owner?
Streaming requires some type of receiver / transmitter.
Are you set up or cognizant of these needs & equipment?
Fill us in, and answer more questions as you provide more information, we'll do what we can to further muddle your opportunity.

Yeah, I know 5.1 wouldn't be good, that's the problem...I'm stuck between the normal 2 speaker setup and 5.1 speaker setup. The speaker wires all terminate in the same room. I am computer savvy, so using a receiver / transmitter for sending the signal from my computer to the speakers won't be hard, I just want to know what the best hardware to use for this is. I am just not used to working with more than 2 speakers and wanted input from people who know. The in-ceiling speakers are bose and all look like the square ones from this set (i couldn't find a set with just the square ones on their own):

If you need any more info I'll try to provide it for you.

All you really need is a stereo source and a speaker selector switch like this:
