Hello,
I just got a old Yamaha CDx-710 from ebay this week and it won't play a cd. It turns on, The disk goes in and out but it doesn't read it. I took the top cover off and found that the disk won't spin. When it first goes in it tries to spin but then stops. Does this mean the motor is bad or could it be something else? Can it be fixed cheap?
At least when I ordered this I also brought another one ( yamaha cdx-820) that works very well. Sounds really good too.
Thank You,
Chris

.

There could be several reasons why the disc doesn't read. However, they all involve the transport which is not worth repairing in this player.

If you are experienced with synchronous drives, have a test bench with a scope and some access to parts, then yes, by all means fix it.
Otherwise, it's back to flea bay.
