How to convert speaker wire to 1/4" jacks?

I have 2 Bose bookshelf speakers which I used in my old stereo receiver. I'd like to use them in a standard Behringer mixing board but it only has 1/4" Main Outs (not the "clips" for the bare speaker wire like my receiver had). Is it possible to solder a 1/4" mono jack to each pair of speaker wires and use these as the mixer's L/R outputs? Will that work? Thanks for any tips!

.

There's no problem with soldering wires to connectors, you don't even have to go to that much trouble if you buy screw type (non-soldered) connectors. As long as you are using this only for speaker level cable runs you need only be certain of correct polarity (+ to + and - to -)when you do the physical hookup to the connectors and speakers. Are you sure you need "mono" connectors?

You might also want to have the system off for a few minutes (cap discharge) before connecting or disconnecting. Possible 'zap'.

You can cut the banana plugs off this and use the bare wire.
