The Twilight Saga: New Moon Original Motion Picture Soundtrack
CD

1 Meet Me on the Equinox / Death Cab for Cutie = sounds as I would expect
2 Friends / Band of Skulls = more like the first song, I did not know what to expect
3 Hearing Damage / Thom Yorke = definitely Yorke and not Radiohead, still not as dark as he can be
4 Possibility / Lykke Li = not familiar with this artist either, but it has a sweet choral effect along with her heavy Asian accent. Her voice just flows through the ballad with minimal instrumentation. Song of hope?
5 A White Demon Love Song / The Killers = More like Bon Iver, I am sort of getting a sense of a trend here, easy to listen to music with excellent vocals.
6 Satellite Heart / Anya Marina = a wispy sultry voice, not unlike Duffy, again simple musical accompaniment to a full sounding female vocalist.
7 I Belong to You / Muse New Moon Remix = I have heard some of Muse's work while in a car but have not focused on anything until this cut, I know I do not like remixes but I have no complaints about this one. More instrumentation on this song than the first half dozen, a little more upbeat, still easy listening. Nice piano.
8 Rosyln / Bon Iver = Annie Clark and Bon Iver's duet is uniquely simple on this cut. Not sure if they did anything together before or if I just never was aware of it, but they should do a whole folk recording session together ala Knopfler and Harris.
9 Done All Wrong / Black Rebel Motorcycle Club = This was one of the cuts I was most anxious to hear and found it more bluesy than rock which I guess was what I was expecting. I will be looking for what they have out there.
10 Monsters / Hurricane Bells = This is the Radiohead kind of song I was expecting from track 3. A little more electronic than the first 9 tracks. It does not particularly fit with them.
11 The Violet Hour / Sea Wolf = Another band I have seen on store shelves but knew nothing about. A bit like Wilco or Fleet Foxes in presentation. Not hard to take but not stirring me to pursue more from them.
12 Shooting the Moon / OK Go = Much like a lot of late 80's early 90's bands. Not bad but I did not gain a sense of originality from this particular song.
13 Slow Life / Victoria Legrand = Laid back, smooth, vocalist who drew me in. A little faster paced than most of the cuts on here but still fits in.
14 No Sound But the Wind / Editors = Consistent presentation with a number of tracks on this LP, laid back folksy ballad. I would not mind hearing more of their work.
15 New Moon (The Meadow) / Alexandre Desplat = This score was written for this film. Chariots of Fire sort of comes to mind as I heard this. It won't be as easy to remember as "Chariots", but its delicate and poised flow winds up this soundtrack very nicely.

Oddly enough I am not a fan of soundtracks but wanted to hear several of the artists whose work is represented here. The way this was put together makes it almost not seem like a compilation. There are several of the above artists I will be updating my library with.

M - 4.75
S - 4.50

A very well recorded and organized soundtrack.

Reporting back on Grant Green Alive!

https://www.ecoustics.com/cgi-bin/bbs/show.pl?tpc=1&post=1791305#POST1791305

Just got around to spining this CD tonight and I thought I'd get back with a report.

First of all it's a keeper, the whole CD has a great live jazz-funk vibe that I really dig, but sonically, it's about a 2 out of 5, and that's a damn shame. It sounds as if this was run through some early generation noise reduction, the high end is shaved off & the overall recording is very veiled.

Picked up the new Pearl Jam album "Backspacer".

Seven songs I really like.

Four songs I dislike.

Of the seven songs I like, four of those seven are absolutely great songs. Works of art.

Of the four I dislike, three are absolute, ridiculous cr*p.
