Newbie question: where is the seventh speaker in 7.1 setup?

I know about the 6.1 setup and am currently running a 5.1 system. But where is the "7" speaker placed? Also, with the NAD 762, do i need any additional amps to run a 7.1 setup? Thanks

2 Fronts 1 Centre 2 surround sides 2 surround back ------- total 7 = 7 channels
+ 1 Subwoofer (optional) = the .1 Channel using tenth of the bandwidth of a fulrange channel.

I think it's three front speakers, two middle field speakers and two rear speakers. Someone will correct me if I am wrong.

the three fronts are 2 mains and a centre and your middle fields are the surround sides\middlr=e field and the rear are calle surround back - you are not corrected but the terms you yse ARE wrong.
