George, yeah Diana Krall really sounds great on that live Paris recording. I'm not hearing good things about her latest though (Quiet Nights). Breathy singing and very light on the piano.

Kind of Blue - goes without saying - the quintessential jazz recording. I never tire of listening to it.

I imagine you've seen this:

http://www.amazon.com/50th-Anniversary-Kind-Miles-Davis/dp/B001D08SK0

A little pricey, and would be a nice collectible save for the packaging, which reviews describe as horrible (several writers' CDs sustained significant damage just being taken out of the jacket. That 180-gram blue vinyl pressing would be cool though.

Neil, I must say I think Quiet Nights is sensational. Yep, a bit less piano work, not that she's all that great on the piano, but she sounds great. It's a very seductive album imho. I have about 8 cd's of hers and at present this is the one I keep playing.

The above, those below and more for the past week.

Taj Mahal - Maestro
Bob Marley - Kaya
Claire Martin - Too Darn Hot
Geogie Fame - The Blues and Me
Jazzamor - A piece of my Heart
Harry Connick jnr - Oh My Nola
Dr John - Creole Moon
Buddy Guy - Slippin In
John Lee Hooker and Friends - Best of
Van Morrison - What's Wrong With This Picture
The Society Syncopators - Now You're Talkin' My Language
Janis Seigel - Friday Night Special
Jackie Ryan - You the Night and the Music
Rennee Olstead - self title
Monty Alexander - Concrete Jungle
Charles Brown - So Goes Love
Etta James - Life, Love, and the Blues
Chris Rea - Road to Hell
Donald Fagan - Kamikiriad, Morph the Cat
Steely Dan - Two Against Nature, Aja, Gaucho
Neil Young - Greatest Hits
Eric Burdon - Soul of a Man
10CC - Bl00dy Tourists
Pink Floyd - DSOTM, Wish You Were Here
Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers - Greatest Hits

Stryvn, Opel may not be Barrett's best, but its the only one I own by him. I'd say it has hints of very early Floyd, no surprise there. But its pretty hard to take, at least for me. After about a dozen times listening to it over the years I can finally make it all the way through...barely. Genius or madman? I think probably a little of both.

I'd say Robyn Hitchcock, who was heavily influenced by Barrett, is much easier to listen to, and much more enjoyable for my money.
