i have a marantz amp(100w/ch). i have noticed that the sound is much sweeter and more detailed with better sound stage after a couple of hours of listening.i presume its because the amp gets sufficiently warmed up by then . but imagine having to wait for two hours for this.also, my amp gobbles up tons of power.any alternative to leaving it on all day?? please advice.

Sounds like you are still in the break-in phase. I would leave my amp on, with a feed from my tuner so it is playing a radio station while you are gone. Leave it like that for a week. By then it should be broken in and will sound sweet all the time.
