Remote extension on NAD system?

Hello every one,

I have a NAD 325BEE with C542. They are in a cabinet (spouse, kids...) and I would like to be able to use the system remote (SR5) while the cabinet is closed. The NAD amp has an IR in and I know that the amp IR out can be connected to the 542.

NAD recommends Xantech repeaters (or whatever the correct term would be under these circumstances) in their manual and on their web page. Unfortunately, they are unable to tell me what exactly I need. Neither is Xantech.

Xantech tech asked if the amp provides 12V power at the IR in connection. I don't know. NAD does not answer that question. If that was the case then there may be a cheap solution available with only an IR extender plugging directly into the amp with a mini stereo plug. If not then I may have to buy all sorts of other gadgets.

Did any one ever accomplish this? Does any one know if the IR connection on the 325BEE provides 12V power?

Is there a technical manual available for the amp and the CD player?

Thanks.

The simple solution is something like this:

http://www.cyberestore.com/remote-control-extender-p-98.html

A better solution is an all in one remote with a remote extender such as:

http://www.logitech.com/index.cfm/remotes/universal_remotes/devices/374&cl=us,en
(can be purchased significantly cheaper than MSRP)

There are a ton of other options but I do not believe you have to get terribly complicated or too expensive to accomplish your goal.
