Why not look into something used? Lots of good 2 channel stuff on CAM on Agon. Maybe a half-decent NAD or Rotel integrated?

Ditto on the HK3385 or HK3485 (HK is up the "90" series, the "80" series really hard to find).

But this Onkyo looks like a good deal http://www.ubid.com/Onkyo_TX-8522_XM_Ready_Stereo_Receiver_200W_w%2FiPod/a112846 20-c1014-s2.html

The HK3480 is hard, but not impossible to find http://cgi.ebay.com/Harman-Kardon-HK-3480-Z-AM-FM-Stereo-Receiver-Tuner_W0QQitem Z160272061928QQihZ006QQcategoryZ14981QQcmdZViewItemQQ_trksidZp1742.m153.l1262

chris, didn't you say that the insignia receiver from bb isn't that bad?

I know nothing about it.

Yeah, I picked up a opened-box NS-R2000 for about $25, delivered, on eBay about 2-yrs ago for my brother, and it isn't half bad. I'd say it is a good 40W/Ch receiver even though it's rated at 100W/Ch. I know I've read elsewhere that it's a Sherwood RX-4109 re-box, but now I seem to recall that it's actually some other no-name Chinese brand that Best Buy slaps their label on and sell as their own, Sherwood might use the same supplier.

If someone wants to roll the dice, and try to pick one up, best of luck.

Best Buy is now selling the unit for $113, and I'm not really interested in it at that price.

I should add that my brother's bedroom system also consists of a pair of Insignia NS-B2111 speakers I picked-up for him recently, also on eBay, also new in an opened-box, for about $35, and together with an old $40 Apex AD-2500 DVD/CD player, it makes for a very neat set-up.

I was pretty unmoved by the Insignia speakers in the "showroom", but in his room they sound really nice, even more so when you consider the price.

Is that what it is? I thought it was a pack of cigarettes.
