Hi to all!

It might not be THE big news...but changing the custom-NAD interconnect from "main-in" to "pre-out" did a very nice job.

The sound is even more clearer, the treble a bit less "harsh" and more precise and the bass has a better punch.

I just took a good chinch-cable from OEHLBACH (german factory) and replaced the old connection.

GREAT!!!!

I just replaced the chinch cables from CDtoAmp and Amp-wise from "main-in" to "pre-out".

Again another fat sound improvement.

I use now these cables:

One set for CD to Amp
One set for the main in/pre-out-connection...

Cool, yo.

Thor, for the record, and if the cables are directional, it is from "pre-out" to "main-in".

There will literally be arrows on the cable, TL.

I called the company, OEHLBACH.

If there are no arrows, the "writing" should "go" towards the end-connection, with the flow of the sound.

Meaning: it should be readable from the pre-out to the main-in.

Thank u Nuck, I am at work right now (school-teacher).
Will check at home if there are arrows or only the writing....

Cheers

.

Don't pay much attention to MW. He uses packing tape on his interconnects and had to save the "From" and "To" label that came with the tape. (He even put the stamp on one end.)

@Jan

What do you mean???

I found the arrows on the cables.

Now, is it "from pre-out towards main-in" or "from main-in towards pre-out"???

To me, from pre-out to main-in makes sense....

Please enlighten this poor newbie...

Just called up NAD-Germany....

The right way is "from pre-out" to "main-in".

The arrows show the direction of the sound-flow...

Cool

Hey I got a question. Thorsten, your post actually prompted me to go look at mine for a double check.

Signal path of my cables are as follows.

Amp to A/V receiver
Cd Player to A/V receiver
Subwoofer to A/V receiver.

Now im pretty sure the Subwoofer to A/V receiver is wrong. The signal path on the cable should be going from the A/V receiver to the Sub? Right? Can someone please comment, i'm having a brain f@rt. Thanks

Just turn around and face the other way when listening Nick and you should be okay.

LOL!

Yes, you're right, but whether there's any difference is up for debate - and for your ears to decide of course.

.

Most often a cable is marked "directional" to indicate the ground has been lifted on one end to reduce RFI and EMI pick up. If you heard no problems with the cable in what would be the incorrect installation, I doubt you'll hear anything with the cable reversed. You might but I kinda doubt it.

Well, I am glad I brought that up!

Jan, you're second mistake this year BTW. That of itself must be a first. The packing tape in on my speaker wire not my interconnects. I have pink fluorescent tape on the positive wire of two of the three ICs. Come on, pay attention will ya.

Thor, all's good, just keep hanging with us asking whatever.
