Adding set of speakers and volume control

I am relatively new to this and need a bit of help....

I have an existing amp (Load 6-8 Ohm, 35W/channel) and a set of speakers (6 ohm, 50W Din, 100W Max). I would like to add another set of speakers (I assume in parallel) and I've seen a pair of 6 Ohm, 75W DIN, 100W Max, that fit my budget and "noise" aspirations. I've read that the total impedance has to stay above a certain load so as not to burn out the amp. Will they work together in parallel with no problems?

Also, on the new set I would like to add some sort of volume control/switch off on the line. Is this technically possible, and if so, what sort of product should I be looking for?

Thanks for your help
