Buying used receiver- Comments wanted

I have an opportunity to buy a used receiver from an unknown source on an auction site. The unit isn't that old given the model number, and the price is $150 less than the cheapest internet price, and the unit lists for $650 (will cost me about $300).

Assuming this is the model I want, any thoughts on buying used equipment? There is a slight scratch on the front panel.

Thanks

I have one receiver in my garage that is almost 25 years old and it still sounds great. I have another I use in my basement that is 15 years old. They are both often used and they both sound just as good as when I bought them.

Receivers just don't have that much go wrong with them if they are designed properly, so I don't see any problem inherent in buying used if it is a product you really want. Many people buy from eBay and are almost always satisfied. However, if there is a problem, what do you do?
