I don't need HDMI because I run those cables from my DVD and Direct TV straight to my TV and can run my sound either straight to the TV via optic cable or from the DVD and Direct TV unit straight to the receiver (whichever is best?). oh yeah I'd prefer to spend closer to $300 but I think I'm fighting a losing battle and I don't mind refurbs if it's from a reputable dealer.
