Terminating, are banana plugs the universal standard?

Hello. One simple question..

..How do I terminate?

Im thinking Gale banana plugs, should the plugs matter?

For what its worth, cambridge audio 540a amp and wharfedale diamond 8.1s, how do I know which terminations they accept?

Cheers, JJ

Bananas are useful during initial setup when one is unplugging and moving the system around.

Bananas and spades can both be useful when bi-wiring a speaker when the two cables cannot fit into the binding posts without driving yourself insane.

Generally the less connectors between components is best, so if bare wire works in the system, go with it.

Thank You.

Guess what. Im saying bye to my system. I simply dont have room for it anymore :'(
Replacing with an ipod dock. Not entirely comparable but thats that.

Times change, the hobbey will always remain until I finish (and start) uni, followed by getting my own place :-)

I know I know. Its a drastic move. It'll be missed. Although i dont blame Kano lmao.

Klipsch Igroove I think will be the substitute. Was looking at the Athena Ivoice and Mirage Omnivibe too but think I'll go klipsch. Connect my emu 0404 card to that and use onboard sound with my cheapo creative headphones which actually are pretty good believe it or not.

Perhaps at uni I'm thinking this..

Super t-amp with 2 Klipsch RSX 3/4/5s since they're easy to drive.

Perhaps the rsx 5s as a minimum actually. Was liking the monitor audio b1 as an option but they're only 88db/s

Bare wire is excellent. However, it is subject to environmental factors and over time may tarnish in appearance. I have yet to detect performance deterioration even with bare wire that has discolored over the years. But I have not put the meter to it.

The bare wire is simplest(simple is good).
Trim it back at intervals, perhaps, during the annual cleaning and tightening ritual.

I wasn't kidding, JJ. You DO have an annual cleaning and tightening schedule, right?
With cleaner and a stiff little brush?

Stryvn, check your paperwork and see if an annual service is included from the man or the dealer. If you break it while cleaning, then you would be SOL if you admit it, I suppose.
So long as I am not hamfisted, damage is unlikely.

Colin Powell's "pottery barn" rule applies. You break it, it's yours. (Too bad more people didn't listen to him before he sold out with that debacle at the UN). Retailer and manufacturer are off the hook. If you wash your car and scratch it in the process, you can't expect the dealer to take the blame or to repair at no cost.

Then again, how much danger is there in applying de-oxit to the posts and I/C's with a little brush and snipping back wires?
See ham-fisted above.
I take the covers off, yes, so as to clean the animal fuzz from the internal sinks and such, with some other stuff that I understand.
Not time to learn on your good stuff, just remove the nasties.

My question wasn't really in regards to breaking stuff.

Anybody ever seen a "seal" across mating components preventing opening the carcass or "voiding the warranty"?

Wiley, how long you been cleaning your amp with a pressure washer?

What on this earth is an annual cleaning and tightening schedule!?

I now and again check that the connections are tight..
