Connecting receiver, volume control and speakers

I have a Sony STR-DA2000ES Receiver (8ohms), an in-wall volume control(VS160 impedance matching by speakercraft) and a set of Bose 161 speakers, rated 4-8ohms. I'm stressing about 4ohms vs 8ohms, setting switches in the receiver and/or the volume control and frying my receiver .. Obviously I have speaker cable running from the receiver to the volume control and from the volume control to the speakers.

I think I'm good to go just connecting everyone and powering up but.....

Is there an audiomesiter out there that might confirm? Please. Pretty please.

Many thanks.

.

Set all switches to the highest impedance available.

Why? Seems I'd be potentially cutting myself short doing that as opposed to maximizing the capability of the equipment.

Explain "maximizing the capability of the equipment."

JP, I am confused. You asked for the advise, and received the best possible advise, to protect all of the parts, and work from there.
You can monkey around from there, but making it work first seems to be what you wanted. Ja?

It's a waste of time to engage people who behave asthough their suggestions are somehow above reproach and should not be questioned... Nuck.

Right back at ya, Janey.

It's a waste of time to answer questions for people who don't want information.

Obfuscation is the rat hole where fools go to hide.

Please don't come back, Janey.

Yep, Jane is wise and perceptive. Although one does not have to be especially perspicacious to realize that Jan is an idiot.

Jane, once you cross Jan and his sycophants they will continue to insult and demean. Read some of the threads and you'll see exactly what I mean.

Jones has another alter-ego. More useless than the last, I hope.
