A friend of mine needs a new stereo & doesn't have a lot of $$$.

I've done a little digging, and this little set-up seems very nice. Class-D Amp, REAL Rosewood speakers, neodymium ribbon tweeter, seems to play everything. Any thoughts?

They certainly look a little classier than the usual stuff in the low end price bracket. You give em a listen yet?

The problem with researching this thing is that the reviews I've been able to find mostly read like this: "sounds & looks great", which I suppose is better than "sounds & built like crap!".

Chris, that is a 10 on WAF.
No pic with the grilles on.
I see nothing not to like from the sales blurb.

Stands. How about stands?

Actually the friend is a she, so I guess that works out well.

I think the metal mesh grills are on in those pics.

Can you believe stands & a powered sub are not included in the $100 (Factory Refurb.) price, it's an outrage!

And off to PartsExpress for loadable stands.
And a Dayton 10" sub.

Damn, those cabs look nice!

I listened to a similar system at a store recently. The treble seemed slightly harsh. Other than that it was good. Don't know how it would be for prolonged listening. It is also not very loud, but might suffice depending on the size of her room.

I used to have a Philips mini system (MC50). It was awesome for the size and price ($129 USD).

The aluminum dome woofers were real nice. The tweeters seemed neutral too. I listened to a lot of Dire Straits on it.

Compared to the MC50 this model did not impress me so much.
