Any receiver can drive the Bose. As long as you do not expect them to be spectacular.

I know two instances of people pairing Acoustimass speakers with Pioneer receivers. They're happy. I doubt these speakers provide a large load. So, an inexpensive receiver should be adequate.

I wouldn't suggest driving the Acoustimass with a bright receiver, such as a Yamaha. The Acoustimass are bright by nature, and this will accentuate the sound.

I recommend Pioneer or Pioneer Elite. I would also recommend taking a look at Integra receivers as well.

The 701's sound totally different than the Acoustimass though. They are warm, where the Acoustimass are bright.

Totally different sound :-)

Bose is best driven by a garbage disposer.

I still say that I liked the 601's. Although with the acoustimass systems, I say let Andre have a run at them.

The 901's were the ultimate party speakers. Not very accurate but they could rock and take some major abuse.

My vote goes to the Bose Pro series 802 as great party speakers.
