18 guage speaker cables??

When I purchased my speakers I got some 18 guage speaker wire along with it. The dealer said that it shouldn't make much of a difference since my system is low-end -
Speakers: energy take 5.2 (8 ohms)
Receiver: HK- AVR230 (50 Watts/channel)

Will I get some decent sound from it since I don't hear of anyone mention anything higher than 16 guage here? I might need about 30 feet of cabling for each of my 2 surround speakers. Thanks.

18 gauge is a little thin, for any setup. Try going at least 14 gauge - especially if you're running them 30 ft long.

18 gauge is probably too thin for a 30 foot run, definitely better off with 16 or 14 gauge.
