Subwoofer around $400

So I am finally getting a subwoofer to compliment my Athena AS-F2/AS-B1/AS-C1 system. I am very interested in the HSU stuff and also open to the Athena AS-P4000 (a little cheaper but ive heard good things). BUt before I buy i wanted to make sure i am not forgetting any sub in the $300-$400 range.
Are there any other subs that compete with HSU in this price range, such a Velodyne or anything?

If you're interested in movies, maybe SVS?

Velodyne is a great subwoofer, but not in par with HSU.

SVS is another sub you may want to consider.

ok i heard SVS subs are mostly passive so I have to buy a seperate amp, which would probably put me over my limit, am i right. otherwise i would be very interested in SVS

where in God's name did you hear THAT, the Faux News Channel?

thanks ill look into the svs subs, i heard they can bring pictures off a wall--exactly what my girlfriend wants to hear!!!

HSU can do the same thing.
