Making my first receiver purchase. Just got my media center PC yesterday. Plan on using Paradigm CT 90 speaker setup and eventually buying the 60" SXRD HDTV from Sony (just have a good old 36" tube right now.). I've been looking at the HK AVR 635 and 645. 645 has (or will have when released...)HDMI switching, but the 635 is half the price! Any guidance would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

THe real question is what about your sound card? you most likely have a realtek AC97 on board sound witch is desent but not the greatest adn if your gonna use this computer for your media i dont think u would wanna use it try getting something from creative for a sound card the sound is more robust with a desent card

I've got high def 7.1 onboard audio on an ASUS A8N-SLI Premium NFORCE4 motherboard. It states this in the ASUS specification:

Realtek ALC850, 8-ch High-Definition Audio CODEC
Jack Sensing and Enumeration
S/PDIF out interface

What do you think?

Well see, right there!
It says it has Sensing and Enumeration worth Jack!

Check out the Chaintech AVR710 sound card, I was really impressed with the quality through optical for less than $30.
