WOW....that means both of my speakers are bad and that sucks big time

Weird thing is i always have my speakers set to small with sub. Then i set my mains to large and sub off and thats when i heard the popping noise.
Never heard it when set on small with sub. WEIRD
Back they go for repair

Thanks Nuck

By going to large the full bass range was directed to the fronts, of course.
Did you crank it up?

They started popping before I had a chance. The bass and treble are always at 0. I had alot of speakers in my time, this is the first for me.

Thats really odd sounding.
Does the driver grind when pushing from the edges or right at the dust cap or both?

I tested by using one finger and pushing on the edge.

Then I just did it again by using two fingers on each side of the dust caps and quess what NO rubbing sounds. Does that mean its not bad

Maybe not. How do they sound now?
Did you go back to small?

Man I'm getting old

My son does't watch movies loud but he likes bass.
when he watched a movie friday he turned the bass on the pre/pro to +4 and i didn't know, until now. I fill so STUPID. That should've been the first thing i looked at. There's no problem with the speakers, or anything else.

Nuck, thank you for all of your help. you know sure your stuff.

Isnt the poping noise from the vioce coil jiting the magnet? from high movment and dosnt it allso damage the voice coil from producing sounds like it did before?

It's actually the voice coil former (the cylinder the wire wraps around) hitting the back plate of the motor assembly. This can bend the former and lead to various problems. One comment made that causes me wonder is that he could push with one finger and it would rub, but not when he pushed with two fingers. I wonder about the suspension. Seems like it's awful sloppy.

My Springer Spaniel got out one night. He spent the entire night roming. When he came back the next morning, he had a big grin on his face. From that point forward, I always assumed he was a bad woofer.

Timn8ter, i put one finger around the rubber EDGE of both woofers, i heard a rubbing noise. If i put 2 fingers or one near the DUST CAP and push i hear nothing. When the speaker popped it wasn't very loud at all.

and yes the woofer is very sloopy, and it moves more air then any speaker i ever had.

Nuck - That has nothing to do with the topic. And, my Spaniel had nothing to do with your Cockatiel.
