ok, pull the trigger for me....got 2 pair of older polk s8's in a 11x19 room. had an older yamaha rx-770 which was fine until we moved (dropped - shattered). was looking at the HK 3480 as an alernative than just grabbing the RX-797, which would be the easy buy for me. much difference in sound warmth, highs/lows? both would seem to have all the power i would need. oh, running an advent powered sub with the system also. thanks gang!
yamaha is said to be bright compared to HK. i dont know from experience since i havent heard yammie amps. i do own the HK3480 so i can say that it is a pretty good reciever especially now that the price has dropped to like half of msrp. power is pletiful and the stated ratings are pretty true to word unlike many japanese made units.
