I am contemplating on buying either Onkyo TX-SR601 or Onkyo TX-SR701. Can anybody pls let me know if putting 300$ more for 701 is really worth compared to 601. What is the major difference b/t these two? My room is 16' * 14' and height is 19'. I have not yet decieded on speakers also. Please suggest me which reciever and speakers suites my need

I have both and can attest that the 601 is the pure play if you are planning to use primarily for music listening. The 701 does not excel in that area....however, it is a beast for movies. Custom set-up is a breeze and the digital format sound is superb. Again, while multichannel SACD playback was very good, back to back CD playback versus the 601 shows that it flounders with 2 channel stereo playback. In summary, if you can afford it and movies is typically the flavor of the day, go with the 701. If you want a bit more versatility, the 601 is the safer beat in my opinion.
