Weird Onkyo problem

I went to watch a movie the other day and I noticed that the back surround sound left speaker wasn't working. I checked the wires as well as hooked up different speakers and I still couldn't get sound. I checked each channel individually and all the channels were at my initial settings of +2db. I went to the channel I was havinf problems with and figured I'd mess with the levels. I finally got sound out of it but only after going as high at +8db. Does anyone know what the problem could be? Does anyone think that channel could be malfunctioning? Oh by the way I have a Onkyo 7.1 TX-SR503. Thanks.

Sounds like the output stage for that channel in your receiver has gone "toes up." It will have to be replaced by an Onkyo Service Center.

Is changing the channel a hard job and are the parts for it easily available?

I don't know the topology of your receiver, so I can't say.

The circuit boards and layout of the internals of the receiver--sorry.

yeah I figured thats what it meant. What I actually meant to ask was are the replacement parts for receivers readily available from the manufacturer? Thanks.

Is your receiver still under warranty? Onkyo give 2 years parts and labor on new receivers and one year on refurbs.
