rtin logan replied to my question of volume with this
"Thank you for your interest in MartinLogan and MartinLogan products. The amp you mentioned should work just fine with Clarity's and also with our in walls. If you do listen to music fairly loud, you may want to pay attention to the heat that your amp is putting out. The Clarity's run at a nominal impedance of 6 ohms which is pretty well matched for the Pioneer Elite. However, the Clarity's can drop to as low as 1.1 Ohms at 20Khz. This low impedance can make your amp run very hot, and can even put your amp into protection. So I suggest you don't put your receiver in a cabinet, but let it breath in the open. If you notice your amp isn't playing as well as you would like at higher volumes, I suggest looking at something with a little more power. Let me know if you have any other questions, and happy listening!"
what does it take to get to 20khz?
