In a room 13' x 21' with a vaulted ceiling. Playing a variety of music,how many watts would be suitable in a vintage receiver. Many older units were made in much lower wattage.

It will depend on your speakers sensivity, your tastes in music and your desired volume potential. To some extent you might also consider the ability of your amplifier to produce peak power ratings above the RMS value.

There is no one answer. There are people pleasantly content with less than 10 watts RMS.

This, of course, does not take into account the type of music you listen to and the demands a pipe organ might make on your system over the demands of a french horn.
