We live on the small island of Kauai, and shopping resources are very limited. Any advise will be truely appreciated.

We are trying to put together a new stereo at home to replace an old amp and speakers. All we have selected are speakers. Orb Audio is what we like. Stuck on amplification (receiver), analog to digital recording and whether surround sound or not.

Our requirements for our new home system are:
Music: need to plug in a Mixer (from turn tables and cassett deck), plug in a CD deck and audio from Dish network DVR. All of these components, we have. CD can be replaced for a burner if best.

We want to record analog to digital. I mean phono and cassett from the mixer to a recording devise. Today, to burn Cds, but it would be best to record and put on a hard drive, so we can "burn" all formats in the future.

For TV and movies sound, (via satelite and players). We would like to have the stereo sound through this new system. Surround sound would be nice...never had.

Finally, we want to have stereo speakers in at least one other room of the house from this system.

First off, fly over to Oahu and go to a decent audio shop. Tell them about the size of your room, how you would like to use the system and what you would like it to do best, i.e., music or home theatre. Then, have them make several recommendations and listen to them.

The Orb Audio speakers are pretty decent for HTIB but they're not very musical. There are much better options out there. Good luck.
