Sony STR-DE915 receiver - main L/R channels stopped working

I have a 7-year old Sony STR-DE915 receiver that worked great until a couple of weeks ago. No matter the input source, I'm not getting any output from the main left or right channels through the speakers OR headphone output. The center and rear surround speakers still work fine.

I've checked the wiring and also tried switching to the 'B' speaker connections with no luck. Also checked the speaker settings, soundfield off/on, direct pass, etc.

Is this something that's fixable (or worth fixing)?

Thanks in advance!

No.

Sounds like the main amps are fried if even the headphone output is dead.

Time to get a new receiver. Personally I'd make a beeline for that $230 Panasonic sa-xr55 all-digital.

Bummer. Is it normal for this to happen at this age? I was a pretty faithful Sony buyer. Guess it's time to try another company - the Panasonic looks cool.

Thanks for the help.

Sony makes good tube TVs but their audio (ditto with their computers) has a reputation of having lots of reliability issues.

The silver lining here is that it's given you a golden opportunity to get much better gear for not much money at all.
