I'm looking at the Yamaha rx v2500 receiver for a possible purchase. I don't listen to music hardly at all. My main use for the receiver is HT and watching Direct TV. Is the Yamaha rx v2500 a good receiver for what I'm looking for?

zero music listening, then yeah why not?

You might even want to try the Pioneer 1014/1015 which should be around $300-500 for truly great bang for the buck.

Edster - You seem to imply that the Yamaha RX-V2500 is not suitable for music. Why is that?

Just my ears talking. The one I heard locally did not impress me, in fact I preferred my own Marantz which is almost half the price. Of course the shop's source, amp, speakers, and room all factored into it.

Overall if I were buying something for HT only, I wouldn't spend more than the Pioneer, I really don't see any point in it.
