Receiver to match Paradigm Atoms?

Anonymous

I am looking for a receiver to complement my Paradigm speakers:
Front: Atom
Center: CC-170
Surround: Cinema 70
Sub: PDR-10

I have been considering the Yamaha RX-V1400 (video upconversion and YPAO) and the Denon 2803. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

The Yamaha 1400 would be a fine receiver for this set-up. It is also of more recent vintage than the Denon and has more features.

Denon is probably in the process of coming out with new models, as they just released an upgrade of the 3803---the 3805. So I imagine in the not too distant future the Denon will have a 2805.

My choices would be the 1400 or the NAD743. The NAD is better sonically while the Yamaha has more features and inputs.

The Denon would not be a bad choice. NAD's have a great sound, but seem to have a number of "bugs" and minor annoyances assoicated with them - read the posts, they are quite numerous. I had the atoms and the are nuetral to warm. The Denon is exceptionally clean and nuetral, so I think that it matches well to the Atoms.
