Speakers Popping

I have an Onkyo TS-DX797 receiver and Bose Acoustimass 15 5.1 speakers. I also have a Panamax surge suppresor line filter. I bought this system in 2001 and it has sounded great until recently. The speakers started making small popping sounds. It was the front left channel first, then the center channel, and now the front right channel. Nothing has changed recently that would cause this promblem. I have checked all the connections and they seem fine. Help!! Any suggestions?? Thanx.

Well first thing to do is to switch out the Onkyo and see if that's the problem...

I took the front right channel that was popping and hooked up a different speaker using different wire. The popping noise was still there. I assume that means there is a problem with the receiver. Thanx.

Is it only on LOUD parts?
If that's the case, you are running out of power.
Try turning down a bit, or if you like your music that loud, get a more powerful wide current one. NAD is nice.
