Max Input Power

i checked out the paradigm studio 40 online and the specs mention a maximum input power. in the studio 40 the max input power is 140 watts and the range is 15-180 watts. im just not sure what the 140 watts max input means if some can help me here. also do these requirment also apply to all speaker

It's pretty much a worthless specification that gets attention only because so many consumers are convinced the wattage rating equals quality. If you have a typical solid state amp/receiver you'll be fine. If your amp only puts out 5 watts per channel then those speakers will not work well for you.

Speaker power ratings are not as important as what is driving that particular speaker. A low powered receiver cranked up is much more likely to blow a speaker than a more powerful unit that puts out lots of clean power. A speaker rated at 100 max will blow if a 65 watt receiver being overdriven is clipping but a receiver putting out 150 watts of clean power will not blow that same speaker. Just buy a receiver like a NAD or Rotel and you'll have no problem.
