In Australia Teac was once one of the good names in hi-fi, but has lonce since been mostly associated with very low end budget gear.

Teac has been resurrected in the US as Esoteric; though you would have a hard time knowing it from any literature. The Tascam name, which used to be Teac's professional line of products, is still around. I saw it yesterday on some computer peripherals. It would be mildly interesting to know who owns Teac now.
