Direct Drive Turntable Runs Slow

I have an AKAI AP-D30 direct drive record player that is running slow. A 3-minute song will run about 20 seconds too long on it. I had this problem a few years ago and somebody told me to tighten some screws on the bottom, but now I can't remember what I'm supposed to do exactly.

Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

Turn the relevant speed resistor anti-clock wise as described on wiw.org/~meta/mw/akai.html

Thanks. That was the problem.

Hi there, similar problem, this week I purchased the gorgeous turntable (pictured) as my old Sony Scourer freebie job has taken it upon itself to play 33's at 25 midway through the lp. Good excuse to splash out and get the last turntable I'll ever buy, I reasoned. Well, now this Hitachi HT 550 is doing exactly the same thing. Slightly slurred during the central section of each long player.

Any ideas? Belts? I'm clueless here and would greatly appreciate some advice.

thank you.
