Identical speakers offer a number of advantages.
Placement, timbre matching and spacial timing are so close, you have an advantage, especially in a difficult room.
For theatre especially, the 5 clones will take care of a lot of set-up questions.
If you liked a pair of them, you will like 5 even more, I bet.
I havnt heard these items myself, but the brand comes up often for good reasonably priced speakers.
Sounds like a good call to me.
Let us know. What receiver are you using, room size etc. and are you using a sub?

Cheers

If they sound like junk then yes; it was a mistake. If they sound good, then no; it was not a mistake.

So I guess the question is, how do they sound?

If they end up sounding good, then having them all the same is a plus. No, five is better than three in that respect. Unless you would have spent the same cash on 3 better ones with the intent of adding more later.

So, if this is for 7.1 then what are the other two speakers? Will they be used as back surrounds?

David,

please post a review when you receive the speakers. Fluance does have a return policy but it's only like 7 days not the nice 30 days that Ascend and Axiom provide.

What I'd do if you're not sure how you like them is, take a pair of them (easy to carry) into a shop and listen to them with other speakers in the same price range.

David,

Start with a 5.1 system. The receiver will be happy to accomodate you. My back surrounds are OFF; I'm using 5.1 right now. No room for back surrounds.

That sure is a nice little review...wonder how they'd compare against my horrible Polk R20s (bedroom minisystem) I bought for $80/pair from CC on Black Friday. Kicker is, CC used to retail them for something like $200!!!
