Author Subject: Effect of non shielded speakers

Anonymous

If I have non-shielded floorstanders too close to the TV what will be the effect? Grainy picture, warped image, horizontal lines moving up or down through the picture? I just want to know what to look out for when I get my new speakers. Can it damage the TV?
Thanks all

You will see perhaps a wavy, curved stretch of discoloration where the magnetic field interferes with the TV. Most newer TVs have an adjustment to manually or automatically clear this up, but it's not feasible to place the speaker where it will mess with the TV. You won't damage your TV by trying, though, and you will "know it when you see it" for sure.

Well it's a relief I cannot damage the TV or the speakers.
