Help with choices!

I am not a HI FI GUY...I just purchased a Samsung 5063 HD-DLP....I am blown away...I had been watching a 1995 Sony 25" Trinitron from 17-25 feet away...

Now I am hooked on TV!

So...I have to get a surround system.

Here is my question.

Is the Denon 1905 worth getting or should I swallow it and get the 2905?

Again, I am clueless. Thanks!

If you're mainly doing TV and DVD you really don't need a super duper receiver.

I'd go for the Pioneer 1014 ($400), get a cheap progressive scan DVD like the Toshiba 3960 ($50) and spend most of your budget (60-70%?) on good speakers and a quality subwoofer ($400-600).

A lot of guys recommend the Paradigms, you should be happy there.

There are multiple posibilities for an entry level receiver, edster has you on the right track with the Pioneer. I know many people are not, but I am a bit partial to Sony receivers having owned three and will soon be in the market for a fourth. Check out the ES line of Sony and see if it fits your needs...if not there are plenty to choose from like the 1014 that was mentioned.
